Role Title: GCSE English and Maths Lecturer
Location: East London
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract Type: Temporary (Agency)
Contract Duration: Until the end of the academic year

We are seeking an enthusiastic, student‑focused GCSE English and Maths Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching, learning, and assessment to learners aged 16‑19 and adults for a leading education fe college. The successful candidate will be confident delivering both subjects to GCSE level, supporting students in developing core skills, improving attainment, and preparing for exams.

You will play an essential role in contributing to a positive learning environment and ensuring learners achieve their academic goals.


Key Responsibilities as a GCSE English and Maths Lecturer

  • Plan, deliver, and assess GCSE English and Maths sessions in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and digital learning tools to engage and support learners.
  • Produce high‑quality lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning resources.
  • Track and monitor learner progress, providing timely feedback and intervention where required.
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations, including mock assessments and revision support.
  • Deliver inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of learners, including those with SEND.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement.
  • Participate in curriculum development and contribute to team planning meetings.
  • Promote safeguarding, well being, and equality within the learning environment.
  • Support the college in achieving strong retention, achievement, and progression outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, QTS or equivalent).
  • Subject specialism or strong competence in both English and Maths at Level 3+.
  • Proven experience delivering GCSE English and/or Maths in a college or school setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to motivate a wide range of learners.
  • Understanding of the FE sector and the needs of 16–19 and adult learners.
  • Current Enhanced DBS (Child & Adult Workforce).

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working in a Further Education environment.
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills (English and Maths).
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital teaching tools.
  • Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs.
